“Being a teacher during the pandemic was almost like being a brand new teacher straight out of university. Despite my many years of experience teaching across 4 different countries, teaching during covid made all prior knowledge useless. To make matters worse, I had just started at a new school in a country I had just moved to Qatar. I had to learn new methods to ensure contactless activities, had to balance students in class while simultaneously teaching students online, and also deal with the glaring frustration of uncertainty. One moment I could have all my lessons planned perfectly but the next day the class could go into quarantine due to possible exposure to a positive case. Between Zoom, Google Classroom, covid tests & virtual conferences there was a point where I wondered how I could ever go on in this profession that has been twisted on its head! It’s still a wild, unpredictable journey but I am learning to adapt and embrace the things I cannot change!”
