Associated activities of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival launched

Doha: General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti inaugurated yesterday the associated activities of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival. The activities include a number of distinctive art exhibitions that highlight the status of Arabian horses from various creative angles.

 

Among these activities are a manuscript exhibition on the horses of the East and their breeds, Al Aseel exhibition, an exhibition of horse paintings, and the activity of drawing on the saddle of the horse, in addition to the activity of horse photography, among others.

 

The festival is organised by Katara under the patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and in collaboration with Equestrian Federation, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and Qatar Foundation.

Al Sulaiti, who is also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival, said that the opening of these activities came in conjunction with the launch of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival.

 

He said that the festival provides sport, the beauty of culture, entertainment and tourism. Al Sulaiti said the festival is hosting many related cultural and educational activities and events that reflect the national spirit and ancient Qatari traditions, to preserving the rich heritage of the State of Qatar in equestrian sport.

Dr. Al Sulaiti said it will also help enhance the status of the purebred Arabian horse breed locally, regionally and internationally.

He pointed out that the Title Show Championship will start today, which is a world championship that is held for the first time on Katara Beach and is subject to the highest standards of integrity and fairness.

Dr. Al Sulaiti said the Championship also meets various procedures and standards set by the European Commission for Arabian Horse Beauty Contests (ICAHO).

He praised the high artistic level of the various exhibitions accompanying the festival, and lauded the artists participating in the various exhibitions, expressing his admiration for the diversity of art schools, all of which dealt with horses as the focus of the festival.

The festival is being held on the beach of Katara for the first time, and with great international participation in the competition in the beauty of purebred Arabian horses, with prizes worth QR13m.

All preventive and precautionary measures are in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of the participants and people.

The festival is being organised by Katara in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar Equestrian Federation, the Racing and Equestrian Club and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Culture and Science.
