Qatar Airways will fly thousands of visitors and football fans from across the world to Qatar in December. The multiple award-winning airlines have taken several measures, such as increasing flights capacity, starting new charter flights and introducing special fares, to ensure thousands of football fans will be there to cheer on their teams and enjoy incredible entertainment during their stay in Doha.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Secretary-General of Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), HE Akbar Al Baker, announced yesterday new initiatives by Qatar Airways to bring thousand of football fans and shared details about the exciting line-up of amazing events planned in December. He also said that the permanent cruise terminal at the Doha Port is expected to be ready in 16 to 18 months. December is one of the most significant months in the Qatar calendar as the country hosts the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup Qatar 2019 from November 26 to December 8 and FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 from December 11 to 21. Along with sports, a series of world-class music concerts and festivals will also be taking place this month under the ‘Qatar Live’ event.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors from across the globe to Qatar this month to enjoy world-class football, the best musical talent from the region, and more,” said H E Akbar Al Baker, addressing a media roundtable held at Oryx Rotana Hotel yesterday.
“Qatar Live is part of a wider strategy to expand Qatar’s calendar of events by leveraging the major sporting competitions that the country is proud to host. To celebrate this exciting blend of sport and music, Qatar Airways is offering fantastic travel packages for fans from Oman and Kuwait to fly to Doha to support their teams,” he said.
He added that larger aircraft will bring additional capacity on services from Kuwait and Oman for fans of the Arabian Gulf Cup, while special charters from Monterrey and Rio de Janeiro ensure supporters will not miss their team’s appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019.
To coincide with the month-long festival of football and ensure Qatar experiences a December like never before, an entertainment extravaganza awaits visitors and residents in Doha this winter season as Qatar Live — organised by Qatar Airways and QNTC — kicks off this week. Ooredoo is supporting the event as a platinum partner.
